Internshıp Informatıon Meeting

Internship Information Meeting, organized by Istanbul Medeniyet University Tourism Management Internship Commission, was held online on March 28, 2022. Meeting is led by Assoc. Prof. Ahmet VATAN,  Tourism Management Department Internship Commssion Chairman and presentation is held by Res. Asst. Emel GÜRCÜ, Tourism Management Department Internship Committee Member. After the presentation, all questions of the tourism students on the relevant subject were answered.

First of all, the students were informed that it is obligatory to do an internship in the tourism management department, then in which periods and for how long they should do their internship. It was stated that it is not possible to do an internship longer than the compulsory internship period, and it was stated that the start date of the compulsory internship is the insurance start date. In addition, whether public holidays and weekends are included in the internship period, it was informed how much of the reports and permissions received by the student cannot be included in the internship period and how the internship can be done in compulsory cases such as epidemic natural disasters.

It has been explained to the students that they will find the places where they will intern, but fort his it is explained to teh students where and at the facilities with which documents they can do their internship in accordance with the Internship Directive of the Department of Tourism Management,. Students were informed about whether they could change their workplace during their internship and what they would do in case of leaving the internship place before the determined period. The conditions for this were explained to the students who were told that they could do internship abroad. It has been explained that the students working in one of the companies included in the Internship Directive, previously or currently with SGK, can be counted towards the internship, but provided that they document this. Again, the cases where the internship period they did at another university can be counted instead of their internship here if they meet the conditions in our internship directive were explained.

The students were informed about who and how the insurance was made during the internship period,. It was emphasized that the internship would not affect the grade point averages, but those who did not do the internship would not graduate. It was explained by whom and how the internship documents were evaluated. The students were told which documents they should submit, when and to whom they should submit in order to start the internship and to evaluate the internship afterwards. Finally, information was given about the internship obligations of students whose internships were completely or partially rejected or cancelled.
