The Adaptation and Graduation Information Meeting, organized by Istanbul Medeniyet University Tourism Management Department Adaptation Commission and Tourism Management Department Graduation Commission, was held online on April 4, 2022. The meeting led by Assist. Prof. İrfan YAŞAR, Tourism Management Department Adaptation Commission Chairrman and also Tourism Management Department Graduation Commission Chairman and the presentation held by Res. Asst. Nazlı EREN GÜN, Tourism Management Department Adaptation Commission Member and Tourism Management Department Graduation Commission Member. The meeting took place in two sessions. In the first session, Adaptation Information Meeting was held, in the second session, Graduation Information Meeting was held and after each session, all questions of the students on the relevant subject were answered.
At the meeting that started with Adaptation (Vertical Transfer, Horizontal Transfer and Double Major) ınformation presentation, first of all, Vertical Transfer, Horizontal Transfer and Double Major programs were introduced, respectively. Information was given about the possibility of Vertical Transfer to the Department of Tourism Management then the application conditions and quota situations were explained. It has been announced to the students who won our department with the DGS examthat, from which grade and how they will start. It was explained how students can be exempted from the courses they took during their associate degree education and with which documents, when and where they should apply. Information was given about which criteria were taken into account in the adaptation of the courses they took in their associate degree education. In addition, it was stated how and with which documents they could be exempted from the internship in our department with the internship they successfully completed during their associate degree education.
Meeting continued with the information given about Horizontal Transfer, first of all the possibility of transferring students to the Department of Tourism Management, the application conditions for this and the quota status were explained. In addition, it was stated that they can transfer from the Department of Tourism Management to another university or department and the conditions for this. After the lateral transfer, it was explained how they could be exempted from the courses in the previous institution, and with which documents and when and where to apply for this. Information was given about which criteria were taken into account in the adaptation of the courses. In addition, it was stated how and with which documents they could be exempted from the internship in our department with the internship they successfully completed in the educational institution they came from with the Horizontal Transfer.
Finally, at the meeting, the information about Double Major (DMP) was explained that the students can benefit from the DMP in the Tourism Management Department, the application conditions and quota status for this. In addition, it was stated that they can do DMP in a university or department other than the Department of Tourism Management, and their conditions are shaped according to the university and department to which they will apply. After the DMP, it was explained how to be exempted from the courses in the previous institution and with which documents and when and where to apply for this. Information was given about which criteria were taken into account in the adaptation of the courses. The students were informed about the conditions of successful/failure and graduate/not being able to graduate while performing DMP. In addition, the conditions and results of freezing, deleting or dropping records for DMP were also explained to the students.
At the meeting, which continued with the Graduation Information Presentation, first of all, general information was given about the education period of the Department of Tourism Management and the conditions for graduating from the department were stated. It was explained how and under which conditions students can graduate, if they fail only one course. The conditions for graduating as an Honor Student and by obtaining a Certificate of Honor were specified. It was explained how the process works for the student who fulfills all the requirements for graduation. Information on what the Temporary Graduation Certificate is and how it can be obtained was given. Students were informed about the Diploma Supplement. It was explained to the students where to apply for diploma procedures.
on the conditions of not completing the undergraduate program in Tourism Management students were informed on how to get an associate degree from the school. In possible cases, the students were informed about the conditions and consequences of how the student's registration could be frozen or deregistered.
